International Student Admissions

International Student Admissions:

Sofia University is an SEVP certified institution since 2002 and has approval to accept non-immigrant F-1 students.

Application requirements are program specific. Please see Undergraduate Application Requirements and Graduate Application Requirements for more information.

The process for foreign transcript evaluation has been specified in "General Information About the Admissions Process."

F-1 Students must also meet the University's English Proficiency Requirements which are specified in "General Information About the Admission Process."

After the student has completed the application process and received an acceptance letter, the International Student Office will provide guidance on the process of obtaining an I-20 and a F-1 visa (if applicable).

International students must be enrolled full time each quarter to maintain their F-1 status, unless approved for a reduced course load or annual vacation quarter by DSO. The definition of full-time study will differ based on education level and program.

Only one online course can be taken per quarter, and the other courses must be taken physically on campus. The online class may be 100% remote, and there is no fixed time for the class (due to the asynchronous schedule). Students are required to login to the self-study platform on Canvas and complete the weekly assignments. Each on-campus course has required attendance.
