Practicum 1 is rooted in psychodynamic theory, Jungian analytical psychology, and expressive arts therapy. The course incorporates narrative inquiry and somatic awareness perspectives in addressing core clinical issues in counseling practice. Through a group supervision format, the course delivers ten weeks of systematic training, covering counseling ethics and professional stance, the initial interview and parental/family interview, symbols and metaphors in the case, the counselor's somatic awareness and the client's imagery presentation, transference and countertransference in the counseling process, and overall review and organization of the case process. The course helps supervisees deepen their understanding of clients' inner worlds within the group setting and enhances their clinical sensitivity and integrative practical skills. This course is delivered through Canvas and Zoom, incorporating text‑based discussions, live video sessions, and interactive online exchanges. Students are required to fully participate in group supervision, complete assigned assignments, and actively interact with classmates.
